With Swami Prakashananda
Saturday, June 21st at Chinmaya Shivalaya

Mythologies are enormous poems that are renditions of insights, giving some sense of the marvel, the miracle and wonder of life.
~ Joseph Campbell

Even after composing the great Mahabharatha, Veda Vyasa was not fulfilled. The divine sage, Narada Muni, said to him, “You have described human life, its strife and its ends, but you have not yet described the Lord himself. You must turn your great gift to that task, only then will you find peace.” And so, Veda Vyasa proceeded to compose the great Bhagavata Purana in 18 thousand slokas and twelve cantos.

Considered to be the living embodiment of the Lord himself, and one of the rarest treasures on earth, no other scripture claims that it can bestow moksha merely by being heard. At the heart of this great literature, is the profound spiritual philosophy of the Vedas and Upanishads, beautifully interwoven through stories of creation, the Lord’s avatars and other great myths. This text shows us how to understand and establish a relationship with the divine under the conditions of this Kali Yuga.

Swamiji has always been a strong source of inspiration for youth around the world. He is a dynamic and engaging speaker (young adults often comment on how "blown away" they feel after his lectures). We are very excited to be holding this event with him. Please make sure you make every effort to attend.

Please RSVP at chyktoronto@gmail.com or 416-909-0943.

About Swami Prakashanada:
Swami Prakashananda was born in California, Trinidad, and migrated to Canada for higher studies. He eagerly approached Swami Chinmayananda to join the Mission after hearing his lectures at a Toronto university. In 1991, traveled to Mumbai, India to study the scriptures before taking the vows of a brahmachari.

Swamiji spent six years in India, studying Vedanta and Sanskrit. Upon completion of his studies in 1994, Swamiji was assigned to lecture at various Chinmaya centers in India and Nepal as Brahmachari Prem Chaitanya.

Leaving aside his B.A. double major in Political Science and Philosophy from York University, Toronto, and Law degree from Benares Hindu University, Premji returned to Trinidad in 1997 to start Chinmaya Mission work, traversing across Trinidad, the Caribbean, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, conducting satsangs and yajnas to serve his Guru and the community.

Premji was initiated into sannyasa by Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda, on Mahashivaratri in 2005. CM Trinidad has grown in bounds due to its acharya's devotion, tireless dynamism, humility, and selfless service.
